Salute to all Dads!

Let’s talk about dad! We often forget the sacrifices and contributions that our fathers and male figures have made in our lives. We salute all the wonderful fathers who have touched the lives of many people, be it their own kids, somebody else’s kids, family, people they have mentored, people they have coached and the world at large. A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society. Father’s Day gives us this opportunity to express our love, adoration and gratitude to these special people.
A Father plays a unique role in a child’s life.
He is a role model.
A shoulder to cry on.
An ear to feel heard.
A friend to play with.
He lets you experiment life in your own way.
He pulls you up when you fall.
He lets you get angry at him and loves you more after that.
He lets you see things your own way and then gives his view point.
He is with you always, especially when you need him.
Finding things to do for Father’s Day can be difficult. If you’re having a hard time thinking of something, Here are 10 ideas below. Or, you can use them to get started as you look for ways to honor and celebrate the men in your life!
1. Do a scavenger hunt.
Scavenger hunts can be a fun family activity, and it’s a great way to hide gifts as well. Try this father’s day scavenger hunt to get you started.
2. Share your favorite memories of your father.
Sharing and saving your favorite memories with your dad or a father-figure in your life will keep your favorite memories fresh in your mind. It can also help him feel loved and appreciated.
3. Take a mini-vacation.
You could take a weekend road trip somewhere new or even just explore new sites in your own city. Whatever you do, it’ll be a great way to experience new things together. Or, if you can’t get out of the house, try one of these virtual tours.
4. Participate in his favorite hobby.
If your dad loves cooking, working with his hands, or gardening, dedicate time during the day to doing it with him. He’ll enjoy doing what he loves, and he’ll love it even more because you’re doing it with him.
5. Plan an Outing.
When is the last time you and your dad went to see a movie together or went bowling? If your dad enjoys the great outdoors, then invite him to go on a hike with you at the nearest state or national park. If you’re feeling adventurous then you may also consider a round of fishing or maybe even a white water rafting session. Invite the entire family to tag along and you’re sure to make memories that will last a lifetime! Here are a few ideas to make your outing memorable:
- Have a picnic.
- Fly a kite.
- Play tag.
- Play hide-and-go-seek.

7. Family game night.
This year, let dad lean into his competitive side during a family game night by playing classics like Jenga, charades or Monopoly. If dad loves trivia and brain teasers, you can even host a family trivia night!
8. Do an act of service.
Service is one of the 5 love languages. If your father really appreciates acts of service, then there’s no better way to show him that you care.If there are any day-to-day jobs or chores that your dad does that he doesn’t particularly enjoy, whether it be cleaning, shopping, DIY, dog-walking, washing or maybe clean out his car, let him have the day off and some time to himself and get those done for him.
9. Serve dad an All-Star meal.
Today’s all about dad! Invite him over for dinner and cook up his favorite dinner and dessert. If you have siblings, ask them to get in on the fun too and really go all out. If the weather is nice, take the party outside and use it as an opportunity to enjoy the summer season. Consider making extra portions of everything so that dad has leftovers to enjoy over the next couple of days!
10. Bring travel to your home and create a themed cocktail evening.
Even though travel restrictions are loosening up in many places, your local restrictions, work commitments or feelings about travelling during the pandemic may prevent you from going on an epic weekend away for Father’s Day.
Is there somewhere you and your dad/husband have always wanted to travel to? Bring a themed night to your house for Father’s Day evening…
- Choose the country
- Research a popular cocktail there (Margarita from Mexico or Sangria for Spain)
- Decorate the room in that country’s theme
- Prepare his favorite meals
- Play his favorite music
- Play fun competitive family games
We hope you can plan an extra special day for your main man. Are there any new traditions you want to try with your dad this year? Regardless of which activity you choose, the most important thing about Father’s Day is to make sure your dad/husband feels appreciated.
