Things To Do This Holiday Season

Things To Do This Holiday Season
The holiday season is upon us once again, be it Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas itself, there are a couple of things you can do while in the company of friends and family. Holiday periods are fun times for everyone, they are times to reminisce and enjoy the good things life has to offer, holiday seasons are happy times generally. There are several activities you could do this holiday period.

If you would be spending the holidays alone or not, don’t worry, this article still has you covered. So here are a couple of things you should do this holiday season.

  1. Give Gifts: What’s a holiday season without giving gifts! Make sure you exchange gifts with the people you love, it shows you care and are thinking about them. Gifts naturally emit feelings of gratitude, when you give gifts, you make people happy and put smiles on loved one’s faces. When we say gift giving, it doesn’t really have to be something very flamboyant or expensive, gift cards can work too. Even volunteering your time at a shelter or home is gift enough, as long as it makes people happy and you find joy in it, volunteering is a healthy way to contribute to the society and feeling good, trust me nothing gives more satisfaction than being able to give back to the community in form of work or time. What is a holiday season without joy, love and gift.

  1. Take That Picture: Yes dear, you want to take all that goofy picture, in all those matching pants. Well, if you don’t have matching pants, that is not a problem. What matters is that you take the picture. Remember they say a picture emits a thousand words, you want to hold and cherish that moment forever, especially if you are with loved one’s or family. You want to always look at that picture and know you captured moments words can never describe.

  1. Bake, Bake, and Bake some More: You know all those pictures and video’s of foods you saved at you desk job while waiting for closing hour and told yourself you should try this out? Yes! This is the perfect time to try them out. Make that ginger bread man and watch it come alive. You can learn how to make your own bread and this tends to be great when it comes to mood boosters, it has also proven to be very cost effective and saves you a lot of pennies. Whether you get the right flavour or ingredients right or not, they are try outs and you can always get better.

  1. A Festival or Carnival: It’s a holiday period and it won’t be complete without going for festivals or carnivals. Attend as many as you can afford to attend, be it Christmas carol or whatever carnivals happening in your town by so doing you get to meet more people, maybe even meet the love of your life! Whatever happens, remember you only live once, so live it. Enjoy it to its fullest.

  1. Paint and Sip: Its the festive season, you can attend a paint and sip or organise one. Be it a weekend or not, try and let your imagination get the very best of you and take a paper and pen and draw whatever comes to mind or whilst over looking a beautiful scenery, could be at home at a park or any where, also experiment with colours and have fun whilst at it. It’s such a relaxing activity and fun way of spending time either alone or with friends and family. Paint and sip is also an avenue of releasing pent up tension and enjoying the festivities.

  1. Read Books: You should read at least one book, this can also be a means of relaxing. There is hardly any better way to make the most of your quiet time or reflection period than picking up a book. Pick up that book you’ve always wanted to read or that book you abandoned and read it. Bask in the serenity and peace the book provides, travel with the book as far as it takes you. This helps your mind and your thought process. Reading books has proven to help develop the general state of people and helps with interaction. You can read books with your friends and form a review book with them over dinner or lunch.

  1. Rest/Sleep: I know it’s the holiday period, but that doesn’t mean you should not rest. Go for activities but don’t ignore your mental health. It is efficient that you take time off to relax and rejuvenate your body, soul and mind.

  1. Decorate Your Christmas Tree: Make deliberate about finding a Christmas tree. Go tree hunting, find a tree of your choice and haul it home. Go to the stores and buy decorative items for your tree. Don’t hold back on the Christmas decoration, go all the way out, when it come to your decorations, be all extra.

  1. Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?: First off, if you read those words and did not sing them, there is a problem. Then my answer is totally yes, go build that snow man, I’m sure Queen Elsa and Olaf would be proud of you. They want to see how good your snowman is. This is a fun activity and I can bet you, you would really enjoy building a snow man.

  1. Write Gratitude Letters: Most persons these days don’t write letters as often as people should. Which is why you should use the opportunity to write letters, to people, friends, families or relatives. Leave love notes for people, tell them why you grateful for them. This naturally impresses people when they receive it. You definitely should write gratitude letters and also keep them in a jar. This helps you realize how grateful you are for the little things that you enjoy and are available to you. It shows your appreciation for nature and a supreme deity, that’s if you believe in one.

Looking at the list, it is filled with fun things to do. If you can follow through, it's sure going to be fun filled holiday. This is what it means to have fun and be productive simultaneously. Just try it out.
